Make in India & Made in India Labelling
Labelling for domestic manufacturing in India falls into two distinct categories:
the official “Make in India” mission logo and the “Made in India” country-of-origin label.
The Official “Make in India” Logo - The iconic striding lion made of cogs represents India’s manufacturing strength and is a registered trademark of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT).
Prior written approval from DPIIT is mandatory for using the official logo. Applications must be submitted at least 30 days before the intended use.
Only manufacturers with production facilities in India or organizations promoting the initiative at recognized events are eligible to apply.
Any use of the logo without approval constitutes trademark infringement and may result in legal action, including fines and imprisonment.
